Happy Independence Day Indonesia
Indonesian Independence Day, celebrated on August 17th, marks the day in 1945 when Indonesia declared its independence from Dutch colonial rule
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE
On August 17, 1945, Sukarno, who later became Indonesia’s first president, and Mohammad Hatta, the first vice president, declared Indonesia’s independence from the Dutch. This day is a national holiday and is celebrated across the country with various events and traditions.
This declaration marked the end of over 300 years of colonialism by the Dutch, although the actual struggle for recognition and independence continued until 1949 when the Dutch formally recognized Indonesia’s sovereignty
INDONESIA RAYA
‘Indonesia Raya’ is the national anthem of Indonesia. It was composed by Wage Rudolf Supratman and was first publicly performed on October 28, 1928, during the Second Indonesian Youth Congress. These lyrics inspire patriotism and unity among the Indonesian people and are a significant part of national ceremonies and events

Indonesia tanah airku,
Tanah tumpah darahku,
Di sanalah aku berdiri,
Jadi pandu ibuku.
Indonesia kebangsaanku,
Bangsa dan tanah airku,
Marilah kita berseru,
“Indonesia bersatu!”
